How these lessons work
The lessons follow the classic touch-typing order used by typing institutes: first the home row (A S D F – J K L ;), then the top row, then the bottom row, then capitals, punctuation and numbers, and finally the vocabulary that appears in government exam passages. The highlighted key on the keyboard shows what to press next, and its colour shows which finger should press it.
- Wrong key? The letter turns red and the cursor waits until you press the correct key – this builds correct muscle memory.
- Stars: 1 star at 88% accuracy, 2 stars at 94%, 3 stars at 97% accuracy plus the target speed.
- Progress is saved in your browser automatically.
- Lessons need a physical keyboard. On a phone, use the typing test instead.
