About the Supreme Court JCA typing test
The Supreme Court of India recruits Junior Court Assistants through an objective test, a computer typing test, and descriptive and interview stages. The typing test demands 35 wpm in English with no more than 3% mistakes, so a candidate typing 350 words can afford only about 10 errors. The passages are typically legal or general-administration text, which is why our court passages include terms like “petitioner”, “respondent” and “jurisdiction”.

How the Supreme Court JCA typing test is evaluated
Net words per minute
Gross speed = (key depressions ÷ 5) ÷ minutes for English, or actual words ÷ minutes for Hindi.
Net speed = gross speed − (mistakes ÷ minutes). Full mistakes count as 1 and half mistakes as ½.
You qualify when your net speed reaches the required speed and your error percentage stays within the notified limit.
Worked example: At 35 wpm for 10 minutes you need about 350 correct words. With a 3% error limit, that leaves room for roughly 10 full mistakes.
